I don’t know about you but, I’ve never heard of anyone that wants to lose their hair. Be it man or woman. And, while most “magic” treatments don’t work, you can naturally control how quickly you lose your hair.

In fact, you could even be able to stop abnormal hair loss altogether. Here are five natural ways to slow down or even stop hair loss.


1. Coconut Oil

Coconut oil has anti-fungal and anti-microbial properties. So, apply it directly to your scalp to help keep your follicles unclogged and damage free. Research shows that using coconut oil before or after washing your hair can significantly reduce protein damage. All you have to do is pre-wash your hair with it to help clean your scalp of bacteria and build-up. What I love about coconut oil is how it makes my hair stronger and more resilient.

2. Saw Palmetto

Saw palmetto can effectively reduce hair loss by stopping testosterone from converting into dihydrotestosterone – the compound linked to thinning hair and pattern baldness. This is why some hair products contain saw palmetto.  To get the most out of it, take a supplement.

3. Onion Juice

Just like coconut oil, onion juice cleans the scalp. It also increases circulation and nourishes hair follicles because it’s rich in catalase. This antioxidant helps get rid of the hydrogen peroxide build-up associated with thinning and greying hair. In fact, one study showed that applying onion juice to the scalp twice a day can cause hair regrowth in only six weeks.

4. Vitamin D

Research on mice found that vitamin D helps stem cells grow new hair follicles. Its receptors are vital for hair growth. Vitamin D may not help you grow back hair that you already lost, but, it can keep you from losing any more.

5. Iron

Yes, most men lose their hair. But, women do too. One study on 5,000 women over eight years found that women with low levels of iron in their blood tend to lose the most hair. You see, your hair follicles need oxygen to work at their best. Iron helps transport this oxygen to the scalp. You can supplement your diet with spinach, oysters, eggs and grass fed beef for optimum iron.

These natural solutions are not just for hair loss. You can use them if you  want to keep your hair from thinning.
