It is so important to give yourself a ‘ cut off ‘ time at the end of a long day. Our days are often stressful and extremely busy, and we tend to take that stress with us to bed. At night, give your self a time where you completely switch off. Turn off your laptop, your emails, put your phone down. Remember that worrying about work related issues is not going to help solve them in the middle of the night.
Eat Well, Exercise often
What you put in your body affects sleep immensely. Things such as: Sugar, Caffeine, Alcohol, and any other stimulants have an affect on your body as well as your sleep. It is also very important to exercise daily. Exercise stimulates the brain as well as the body.
Before going to bed each night, try meditate for 20 mins, either in silence, or with some meditation music, and even a guided meditation. There are various apps you can download for meditation, as well as you tube videos you can use. It helps calm the mind and relax the body.
Avoid the Nap Trap
Whatever you do, DON’T nap during the day. Once you start the habit of napping, you will never get out of it. The mor you nap during the day, the later you will go to bed, and then it becomes a vicious cycle.
