Easing the Pain of Psoriasis

Easing the pain of Psoriasi, but we can’t guarantee that they will cure it:  https://www.liferetreat.co.za/?s=Psoriasis

Psoriasis is a painful condition, affecting many people all over the world. Symptoms included raised itchy skin, bumps, lesions and patches of extreme dry skin.

One of the main challenges with psoriasis, is the fact that it is an auto-immune disease. Your body is working against you, fighting itself and not the disease. Sufferers tend to be very self-aware of their appearance, which in turn can have an adverse effect on their confidence and social lives.

Sadly there is no cure for psoriasis. It is thought to be caused by genetic and environmental factors. Certain people are more pre-disposed to getting the disease, and onset can vary.

Though there is no cure, there are some easy home remedies that certainly help to alleviate symptoms and offer a measure of relief.

1. Dietary supplements such as fish oil, Vitamin D, milk thistle and evening primrose oil are very beneficial to physical well-being in general. Healing from the inside is important. However fish oil capsules can even be opened and the fish oil applied directly to the problem and inflamed areas.
2. A humidifier in the home is essential, especially as it can prevent dry skin. A sensitive skin moisturizer can also help to protect skin from becoming dry. Preventing “angry” skin from starting and flaring up, is easier than curbing the symptoms once painful.
3. When it comes to toiletries, it is important to bear in mind that neutral products are best. Soaps and perfumes have fragrances in them. These chemicals can aggravate and irritate the skin. The same holds true for laundry. Sometimes a simple change in fabric softener, to one suitable for sensitive skins, can help minimize symptoms.
4. You are what you eat. Certain foods are known to compound and trigger psoriasis symptoms. Fatty foods and red meats are to be avoided. However there are certain foods that can help promote healthy skin and ease symptoms. The Psoriasis foundation lists soy, nuts, chocolates and cranberries as “functional foods” for treatment.
5. Olive oil is not only healthy for our bodies on the inside, but also on the outside. Olive oil can be massaged directly onto the skin, as it can help to lock in nutrients and moisture.
6. Hot water is damaging to the skin, yet a lukewarm bath with Epsom salts, mineral oil, milk or olive oil can infiltrate the inflamed skin and help to soothe the itching. It is important to moisturise straight after your bath to maximise the benefits.

Perhaps a small measure of relief for Psoriasis can be found within your own home. From products and items already at your disposal.

Remember that moisture is key in preventing skin from becoming inflamed.
