Hot or cold therapy, especially before and after exercise, can stop muscle spasms, reduce pain and reduce stiffness. However, you need to experiment to see which works best for you. Apply heat which increases circulation for about 20 minutes. Cold which reduces swelling should be applied for 10 to 15 minutes. It’s important to keep a timer nearby so that you don’t overdo it.
