My Shamanic Journey

I recently visited the beautiful Africology Day Spa at The Maslow Hotel, which is situated in Sandton, Johannesburg. Their story of devotion, passion and consciousness was visible in this authentic, yet ultra modern Spa. 

I got to experience one of their signature treatments called the ‘Shaman’s Journey’. This is a gentle, kind and warm rose quartz  shamanic crystal massage that releases pent-up energy likely to cause muscular stress.

The muscles are gently stretched while heat is applied to soften the muscle, followed by a rhythmic relaxing massage.

A beautiful way of balancing the body’s energy centres to create optimum health and well-being. Your treatment is based on the traditional healer’s approach to healing the body.

The Shaman’s journey is a move away from superficial, impersonal massages that offer a one dimensional healing factor.

The Shaman’s journey not only observes the client’s obvious aches and pains but looks further into the energy centres of the client to see how constant stress and emotional baggage can actually block his or her energy centres.

Our story is one of devotion and passion. It is due to this passion that  Owner- Renchia has often been considered a botanical alchemist, her soul devoted to kindness and serving with consciousness.

They had humble beginnings, a beginning that was forged when experience met vision and initiative was taken.

CEO, Renchia Droganis, is an experienced metaphysical and reiki counsellor. She has worked with many victims of South Africa’s difficult past. Using her experience as a massage therapist and aromatherapist to heal their pain through therapy and self-empowerment exercises.

Renchia had a vision to create something that would help people without harming, something that was kind and holistic to the earth, something that was free from deceit. This ‘something’ was Africology.

There is a scent distinct to Africology, one that has its roots tracing back to the days when Renchia used to do healing work in her studio. It is often instantly recognised by people when near an Africology spa or store.

What Is Shamanism?

Shamanism is an ancient healing tradition and moreover, a way of life.

It is a way to connect with nature and all of creation. The word shaman originates from the Tungus tribe in Siberia.

Anthropologists coined this term and have used it to refer to the spiritual and ceremonial leaders among indigenous cultures worldwide.

The word shamanism can be used to describe the ancient spiritual practices of these indigenous cultures.

Clearly the countless similarities between various ancient traditions played a role in the continual generalization of the word.

What Is Reiki?

Reiki is a healing technique based on the principle that the therapist can channel energy into the patient by means of touch, to activate the natural healing processes of the patient’s body and restore physical and emotional well-being

How Does Reiki Benefit Oneself?

Reiki heals by flowing through the affected parts of the energy field and charging them with positive energy.

It raises the vibratory level of the energy field in and around the physical body where the negative thoughts and feelings are attached. This causes the negative energy to break apart and fall away.

In so doing, Reiki clears, straightens and heals the energy pathways, thus allowing the life force to flow in a healthy and natural way.
