Six Anti-Ageing Teas

teas

Apart from hydration, warmth and relaxation, teas also offer so many internal and external benefits. When you drink the right teas you’re also better equipped to defend against signs of skin ageing such as fine lines, loss of elasticity and wrinkles!

But, with so many to choose from, how do you know which ones are best for your skin?

Six teas for clear, beautiful skin

1. Matcha tea

Green in color, this tea is rich in chlorophyll, and is one of the ideal sources of antioxidants that help detoxify the skin. You can also brew Matcha tea and keep until cooled and then splash it on the face on a regular basis for a clean and spot-free complexion.

2. Chamomile tea

This tea has relaxing properties that make it great for red, irritated skin. Furthermore, thanks to its high concentration of the phytochemical quercetin, chamomile tea can protect your skin from sun damage. And, next time you see dark circles, put some chamomile tea bags on your eyes to calm that puffiness and the tired look.

3. Ginger tea

Ginger tea doesn’t only stave off cold and flu which affects your outer beauty. It’s full of anti-inflammatory power that works beauty magic on your skin.

4. White tea

The enzyme in your skin, matrix metalloproteinases (MMP) increases with age. White tea prevents these increased levels of MMP from decreasing collagen and elastin which are both necessary for healthy skin.

5. Rooibos tea

Rooibos tea, also known as red tea, is packed of antioxidants including quercetin, the UVB-protectant pigment that’s anti-cancer and anti-ageing. It’s also a natural antihistamine, making it great for allergies.

6. Green tea

Green tea’s free radical-fighting catechins, EGCG, won’t only prevent wrinkle formation and reduce skin damage but also reverse UV damage. it’s no doubt that green tea is one of the most powerful beauty teas you can drink. Apart from enjoying a cup every morning, you can also apply it in the form of a face mask, as it acts as an exfoliator.

Remember to drink  any of the teas listed above regularly to reap the beauty benefits.
