Six Natural Remedies For Stretch Marks

Wouldn’t it be great if there were a few magic words to make stretch marks disappear? Stretch marks can appear anywhere on the body, but are most likely to appear in places where larger amounts of fat are stored.

The most common places are the abdomen, breasts, upper arms, underarms, back, thighs, hips and buttocks. They appear when there is a rip in the skin tissues due to excessive stretching of the skin beyond its capacity, revealing the layer underneath it. You won’t be able to completely remove stretch marks from home, but you can fade them to a colour that is indistinguishable. Here are some remedies that can help minimize the appearance of stretch marks and help them to fade.

1. Egg white

For your skin to stay healthy and young, it needs the most essential nutrient – protein. And if you didn’t know, egg white contains about 40 different types of protein. This makes it one of the highly beneficial yet cost-effective alternatives to keep our skin problem free. Furthermore, thanks to the collagen found in egg whites, scars and burns are now easier to eliminate. So, apply a raw egg white egg onto your marks and let it dry. You may take your bath and rinse as usual afterwards.

2. Castor Oil

I’m sure your granny can vouch for this one. Besides treating excessive hair fall and skin diseases, castor oil can help naturally treat stretch marks. It contains ricinoleic acid that can help fasten the healing of stubborn stretch marks and also makes them look a lot lighter. Simply warm a cup of castor oil and massage it into the affected area in gentle circular motions. Try to do this every day before you go to bed for best results.

3. Sugar + Lemon + Almond oil

This combination works for most types of scars. Mix 2tbs of sugar with few drops of lemon juice and 1tbs of almond oil. Gently rub onto skin and massage for at least ten minutes daily before taking a shower, and the marks should clear up within a month.

4. Turmeric

Turmeric has skin-lightening and anti-inflammatory properties that help lighten the marks. Simply mix a few teaspoons of turmeric in some yogurt and apply on the affected area. Leave it on for 15 minutes before you wash it off.

5. Argan Oil

Thanks to its varied benefits, several popular cosmetic products contain Argan oil. It is not only rich in the skin friendly Vitamin E, but also has antioxidant properties. If you apply this oil regularly, it will help nourish and heal your skin, and also fade off scars and stretch marks. Furthermore, it also rejuvenates the elastic fibers of the skin and boosts collagen production. Apply the Argan oil on affected areas and leave it on. Do this religiously for at least a month and watch the marks fade away.


6. Apple Cider Vinegar

Apple cider vinegar is used to cure myriad common ailments, treat dandruff, and even soothe a bad tummy. Now, you can use it to treat stretch marks. It contains acetic and malic acid that work on lightening marks without parching your skin. Simply dilute some Apple cider vinegar in a spray bottle and spray some on your stretch marks a few times a day. Wash it off the next day and moisturize your skin.
