Pieter van der Westhuizen discovered at a very young age that the world he found himself in was not a comfortable one. At the age of four he decided that this life was not for him. He began creating another world for himself in pictures.

Piet Van Heerden was born in Nyasaland, now Malawi. He was the son of missionaries who settled in Worcester. From 1939 – 1941 he lived and worked in Hugo Naude’s home until the death of Hugo Naude.

The art print market is one where signatures count for a lot, and hundreds of artists have gotten on the bandwagon. An artist’s name on a print can increase the price by two or more times. And creators generally view signing and numbering works as a valuable source of income for themselves.
