LIFE RETREAT’S FRIDAY WEEKLY ROUND UP

Oh my, I’m going grey! That was me this morning as I brushed my hair. I’ve gone from one strand, right up to… a couple. And no, I’m not wiser. “They say” healthy hair is one of the biggest signs of good health. I know that grey hair is in fact a lack of pigmentation and melanin, so I need to add a few foods to my diet. I’m taking about chickpeas, lentils and spirulina.

Aerobic exercise is said to be the best exercise for avoiding heart disease. That’s great for people like me who enjoy running, walking, jazzercise and the like. But what about those who like to build muscle?

Recent studies have shown that strength training on equipment including leg curls, leg extensions, sit ups, overhead presses etc, has the same advantages as aerobic exercise. Now you weight lifters can feel good about the exercise you enjoy. If you haven’t been exercising, it’s time to get out there and start an exercise program today. It’s great for your heart.

Life Retreat’s Friday Weekly Round Up

The weekend is finally here. And I’m so happy I stuck to healthy eating habits this past week. Smoothies, gym and light dinners. But it’s Friday and I feel like letting loose. After all, “all work and no play” right? Wrong.

It’s time for change. No drinks. No good food. I stop this break-the-rules cycle this weekend. This week has been about detox and if you missed out, then here’s your chance to catch up.

We all heard this when we were younger. And we didn’t give Mom’s nagging much thought. But now that we’re older and wiser, and our backs are achy and tired, we could be ready to listen to some good advice. Sitting and standing properly helps more than just your looks. Good posture strengthens your bones, muscles and ligaments. It also helps you stay healthy most of your life. Starting today, I’ll practice good standing posture and I’ll sit like a queen.

Wherever you are right now, I bet there are at least two screens in the same room with you. You’re reading this on your phone. And then there’s your laptop in the corner or your tablet right next to you. Like everyone else, I rely on technology for many things; from email, to taking photos, right up to driving directions. And if you sleep with it too, then I’m glad not be the only one. But with all this digital addiction, I’ve decided to go on a digital detox.
