“Why, sometimes I’ve believed as many as six impossible things before breakfast.
I come from an Aerobic background. For 18 years I taught classes, trained new teachers and presented Workshops and Master Classes. For over 3 years I competed internationally in Aerobic Sport Championships. Yoga became the new chapter that I developed a yearning for. So, I am qualified to teach Ashtanga, Vinyasa and Yo Bikram after I graduated from this course. I am particularly fond of the dynamics of Vinyasa Flow yoga. It allows me the opportunity to be more creative and it provides the basics of Yoga Asana practice.
I am a 20 year old student and have the honor of doing my yoga teachers course at Life Retreat Studio. In addition, I am also a qualified dance teacher and have been grooving my body all over since a young girl. I love working with the body and learning how to stretch it, work it and move it to ones best capabilities.
“We are stars wrapped in skin, the light you are seeking has always been within “.
When I started Nia I was traumatised by several things that happened in my life. I was introverted and lived in fear. Nia’s music and movement changed it all. My nervous system has calmed down, and I am not merely surviving through fight or flight reactions, but am thriving. What’s more, I feel strong and confident and have been sharing what I learn as a Nia teacher for the past couple of years. Currently I am a Nia brown belt, certified green belt and 5 stages teacher. Inspired in sharing & learning daily about the variety Nia has to offer to condition and restore us to optimal health in the mental, physical, emotional & spiritual realms of being. I am dedicated to awaken the dancer within everyone male & female and find balance and health through movement!
“Out beyond ideas of wrongdoing and right-doing there is a field”
Tomi teaches a flowy vinyasa class choreographed to music on and off the mat. Each class has an intelligent sequence of an apex pose, muscle group or theme in mind. She is originally from LA, California where she studied Sport Science and began teaching. Her yoga journey began in the late 90’s with Iyengar and Bikram classes complimenting the high-intensity workouts that she loved. Yoga eventually took precedence and in 2002, she completed her TT with Gustavo Ponce in Santiago, Chile where she lived for 12 years. In 2003, she studied in India with Sharat and has continued to learn from others all around the world every chance she gets.
“We have to dare to be ourselves, however frightening or strange that self may prove to be”
I have trained in various personal development modalities with some of the world’s best teachers and have been to workshops and read more books than most people I knew. In a driven quest to ‘fix’ myself, I have tried more therapies than anyone I know and trained in some of them. As a result of this, I became very interested in the mind-body connection which let me to the TRE facilitator journey.
“As within, so without; the only place you can affect real change is inside yourself; until you do, you just re-create the same story or pattern wherever you go”
Advanced TRE Provider, Acupuncture, Chinese Medicine, Gestalt Counselling, TRE Group courses and individual TRE facilitation. I am passionate about working with the Mind-Body connection for healing – TRE is an inspiring, empowering modality that leads us back to the wisdom and connection with our own bodies, facilitating our healing on all levels. I am currently an Advanced TRE Facilitator and love working with groups and individuals on this journey.
I have a long and varied history of love for movement and find great joy in making these practices accessible to all. I find beauty in all forms of expression from fluid Vinyasa classes, lengthening and strengthening Ballet Barre and BalletRIP classes to deeply healing Restorative yoga classes. Thus, I aim to incorporate my Honours degree in Clinical Psychology to create an awareness of the connection between one’s mind and body and create an environment where each individual can be challenged and flourish.
